Volunteer OpportunitiesContact Debbie Blair, Visitor Program Specialist, at (561) 347-3912 for questions regarding CSE volunteer opportunities.

Who?
People of all ages (minimum of 14 years) volunteer at the Children’s Science Explorium. The CSE might be the right place for you if:

  • You enjoy working with kids.
  • You have a good sense of humor.
  • You enjoy science.
  • You are confident speaking publicly.
  • You enjoy learning and sharing your knowledge.
  • You want to meet fun people.
  • You want to be more involved in the community.

High School Students, do you need Student Community Service Credits? We can help you achieve those hours too!

How?
Volunteers help in almost every aspect of the CSE’s operations including:

  • Exhibit Guides. Greet our guests, facilitate floor interactions and lead demonstrations at our Experiment Express.
  • Informal Teaching. Assist with our school programs, after school and weekend programs and Eyes to the Skies astronomy programs.
  • Special Events. Represent the Explorium at community events and festivals and assist on special event days at Sugar Sand Park.
  • Science Camp Counselor. Help the Explorium’s campers have a fun and memorable experience at Science Camp. This position requires an individual to be at least a rising high school sophomore, with a minimum age of 15 years old at the start of camp.

When?
Volunteer shifts are available seven days a week.

During the school year, shifts are:

Weekdays:    9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
                        2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Weekends: 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
                        1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Science Camp Counselor hours are 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

I'm in!
All volunteers must attend an orientation and training, at which time they sign a commitment and behavioral contract.

The Children’s Science Explorium is operated by the City of Boca Raton. Volunteers will need to complete a City Volunteer Application Form.

Complete the form, indicating that you are interested in volunteering for the CSE, and return it to Sugar Sand Park Community Center. The Explorium will work with the City’s Human Resources Office to process paperwork.

Please note background checks are completed for all individuals prior to their acceptance into the Explorium volunteer program.
