How Do I Come Up With an Idea for a Project?

It All Starts with a Question
What are your child’s interests? Rockets? Robots? Insects? Computers? Candy? Talk it out! Engage in dialogue to see where the conversation leads you. Write down your ideas.

Use Local Resources
Try the Library, CSE, Teachers, and Other parents. Choose a topic that is realistic.

Form the Question

  • The Effect question - What is the effect of type of water on plant growth? What is the effect of brands of soda on a piece of meat?
  • The How does ___ affect  ___ question - How does the color of material affect absorption of heat? How does the shape of a bubble wand affect the shape of a bubble
  • The Which/What and Verb question -Which paper towel is the most absorbent? Which plant grows the quickest? Which chewing gum lasts the longest? Warning: These projects may be very common!
