Group Programs  

 

Sugar Sand Park & Children’s Science Explorium Group Reservation Policy:

  • Any group of ten (10) or more who plans to visit Sugar Sand Park must make a reservation in advance.
  • All such groups must be based within the City of Boca Raton and/or the Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District.
  • Groups are sent bus/van passes in advance once the reservation is confirmed. Bus passes are required for entry into Sugar Sand Park and should be displayed in the front windshield of each van/bus entering the park. Groups without reservations and/or bus passes will be turned away.
  • Any group without a reservation will be denied entrance into the CSE.

  • Groups (other than school groups) that meet the residency requirement may make a reservation by contacting the Science Center Curator at (561) 347-3913.
  • School groups that meet the residency requirement may make a reservation by contacting the Science Center Educator at (561) 347-3906.

Scout Programs:

Calling all Scouts! Whether you're a boy or girl - Cub, Daisy, Brownie, or further up the ranks - We have awesome programs for you! Any troop with Scouts ages 5-12 is welcome to participate in specially designed programs to help meet the requirements of loops, badges and other merits.

 

Boy Scout Programs:

  • Option 1: Stepping into Science provides an opportunity to explore the scientific method and apply it first hand through fun and interactive experiments. You'll work side by side with staff in the science field! Fills requirements for the "Science" belt loop.    (1 hour program)
  • Option 2: Out of this World Astronomy examines our solar system and beyond! We'll use our telescope and Star Lab for further investigation. Fills requirements for the "Astronomy" belt loop. (2 hour program)
  • Option 3: Geology Rocks investigates the world beneath our feet! Dig into the techniques used by geologists to identify and describe rocks and minerals. Fills requirements for the "Geology" belt loop. (2 hour program)

 

Girl Scout Programs:

  • Option 1: Stepping into Science provides an opportunity to explore the scientific method and apply it first hand through fun and interactive experiments. You'll work side by side with staff in the science field! Fills requirements for the "Home Scientist" badge.    (2 hour program)
  • Option 2: All About Senses examines our five senses and how they work to let you see, hear, touch, taste, and smell the world! Fills requirements for the "Senses" badge. (1 hour program)
  • Option 3: Girl's Invent takes you to a world of creative thinking and problem solving! Imagination and teamwork are needed to solve fun challenges. Fills requirements for the "Inventor" and "Product Designer" badges. (2 hour program)

 

Cost:

Resident Troops:

  • 1 hour program: $100 for up to 10 Scouts. $7.00 each additional Scout.
  • 2 hour program: $150 for up to 10 Scouts. $10.50 each additional Scout.
  • Maximum of 20 Scouts
  • Resident Troops are those based within the City of Boca Raton and/or the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District.
  • Proof of residency will be required at the time of registration. 

Non-resident Troops:

  • 1 hour program: $125 for up to 10 Scouts. $8.75 each additional Scout.
  • 2 hour program: $187.50 for up to 10 Scouts. $13.00 each additional Scout.
  • Maximum of 20 Scouts. 

 

 Additional Information:

  • Troop Leader  and chaperones must accompany Scouts during program and follow all Scout chaperone requirements.
  • Payment will be made by the Troop Leader upon reservation.
  • Troop Leader will be responsible for collecting signed waivers from all parents of Scouts and returning them no later than 3 days prior to the program date. Any Scout without a signed waiver will not be eligible to participate in the program.
  • Any missing payments or waivers not received within 3 days from the program date will result in cancellation of the program. No refunds.
  • Siblings and other "tagalongs" are permitted and must be registered as a Scout if they will be participating in the program.
