The Children’s Science Explorium
offers fascinating, interactive exhibits, programs, and camps.
Each is designed to
enhance 5 – 12 year old explorers’ understanding of everyday physical
sciences.
The Explorium is located inside the Sugar Sand Park Community Center. |

HOW TO REGISTER FOR
PROGRAMS
Register for programs at the front desk
of the Sugar Sand Park Community Center.
Parents must register their own children
and show a copy of each child’s birth certificate.
Participants must pre-register at least
two (2) days in advance of the chosen program.
Call Sugar Sand Park Community Center at
(561) 347-3900 for specific registration dates and information.
Generally, residents may register four (4) weeks in advance;
non-residents may register two (2) weeks in advance.
Unless otherwise specified, all programs
are:

one hour in length.

cost $3.00 for residents, $3.45 for
non-residents.

have a minimum enrollment of five
(5) and maximum enrollment of twenty (20).
All children must be
checked in and promptly picked up at the end of each program. |

four-week series.

February – Cultures and Science
People have
always been curious about the world around them. During the first
three weeks of February, find out how different cultures have helped
all of us understand science as we participate in different

March – Science in your Favorite Books
Dr. Seuss, Shel
Silverstein, and Donald Sobol (Encyclopedia Brown series)

April – Conservation & Environmental Science
Earth Day is
April 22, and the Explorium will help you to celebrate our planet

Boy
Scout Badge Workshops
The Children’s
Science Explorium is celebrating Boy Scout Day throughout February. Get
closer to earning a badge at our Saturday morning workshops while you
learn about science and have fun!

and Park District.

Girl Scout Badge Workshops
In honor of Girl
Scout Day on March 12, the Children’s Science Explorium is hosting Girl
Scout workshops on Saturday mornings in March. Learn about science, have
fun, and get help earning a badge!

Butterfly Garden Restoration
South Florida is the
only place in the US where you find at least 15 butterfly species. Help
the Children’s Science Explorium provide them with a better habitat!
To celebrate
butterfly day, we are restoring our butterfly garden and we need your
help.

Ready, Point, Shoot!
Are you tired of
photos that don’t turn out? Join our professional photographer to learn
more about the art and science of photography and photo manipulation
programs.
Topics covered
will be basic photography, file management, photo retouching, color
correction, and much more. We may not make you a pro, but you’ll feel
like one!
Note: All
participants must bring a digital camera to each session, and have
access to a computer with photo editing software. During Week 3, the
group will meet at the Children’s Science Explorium and will caravan to
an offsite location. All participants under the age of 18 must be

Underwater Photography
Join the Explorium
and a professional photographer as we dive into a new realm – shooting
underwater! We’ll begin the day at the Children’s Science Explorium
before caravanning to Red Reef Park, where you’ll put your newfound
knowledge to work while snorkeling.
Program includes
disposable underwater camera and entrance to Red Reef Park. Program may
be rescheduled due to weather or water conditions. All participants are
responsible for bringing their own gear and must know how to swim
and have previous snorkeling experience. All participants under the age
of 18 must be accompanied, including in water, by an adult.

Kennedy Space Center Outing
Join us for a
daytrip to Kennedy Space Center. Fees include round-trip transportation,
entrance (including IMAX movies), and Explorium staff-led talks on
rockets, US space flight history, the Apollo missions, and the Space
Shuttle.

purchased at the Visitor’s Center.
